DJ and Bob Gibson Scholarship Fund

 Three years ago, the Delaware Chapter announced the formation of  the DJ and Bob Gibson Scholarship Fund.  Named after two of our most loyal, dedicated and hard-working Delaware alums, we set up this instrument so we could one day help deserving WVU students from the State of Delaware.

We are very pleased to announce that the current balance in our scholarship fund is now
 over $26,000
and growing.  This represents a terrific effort to date, yet we know we must do even better!  Our thanks go out to all of you who have given gifts of all denominations. Every donation, no matter how big or small, is greatly appreciated.

Like most scholarship funds, we will never spend the principal we invest.  Scholarship distributions will be made from the fund’s earned interest, once we are able to generate
$25,000 in principal.  For example, $25,000 in principal will generate an annual scholarship of $1,250 if the rate of return on the invested monies is 5%. 

The financial professionals at the WVU Foundation have set up a special account for us, and we rely on them to invest and manage the money in a prudent fashion.

Please make your check payable to “WVU Foundation”, and in the note field of the check write “DJ and Bob Gibson Scholarship”. Please mail your check to our chapter treasurer Drew Shears, 12 Highland Circle, Newark, DE 19713.  You will receive an acknowledgment of your contribution for the IRS.
