To All Delaware Mountaineers:
Both Ellie and I were saddened to learn of Bob Gibson s passing. We have known Bob and DJ since the Delaware Chapter was formed in the early 1980's.
Bob and DJ always worked hard to make the Chapter a success [with] annual summer picnics, football bus trips and keeping the books. So, it is fitting to have named a scholarship fund in their honor.
Now, it is up to the members of the Delaware Chapter to make contributions to the Bob and DJ Gibson Scholarship Fund so that deserving students can have some financial assistance.
College tuition and living expenses have gone up significantly since I was in school and many of today’s students find it difficult to pay for their education.
We all know that a good college education can be the stepping stone to a successful career. In my case, I graduated from WVU in 1965 with a Ph.D. in agriculture, after receiving BS and MS degrees from Rutgers.
After finishing my graduate school studies, I spent the last 40 years working in the chemical industry. My work took me to more than 40 countries which let me see the places that I had learned about in school – a great experience.
So, I encourage members of the Delaware Chapter to make a generous contribution to the Bob and DJ Gibson Scholarship Fund so that deserving Delaware high school students can get some help to pay their college bills and ultimately embark on a successful careers. We have already sent in our check.
In the Mountaineer Spirit,
Dick and Ellie Schauer
