Dear fellow friends of WVU,
I was fortunate enough to graduate from WVU in 1985. While I was there I also met the luckiest woman in the world, who 20 years ago became my wife.
When I began my studies at WVU, out-of-state tuition was just over $800 per semester. As you are well aware, the cost of tuition has risen steadily and dramatically, but on a positive note so has the quality of the education and experience. This is why I am so proud to promote the WVU experience to area youth during the phone campaign each year.
As transplants from the state of Maryland to Delaware (actually, my wife Candy is from Big Ugly, WV), we have just begun to meet and know some of you fine fellow Delaware Mountaineers. To our loss, we were not able to really get to know Bob Gibson in this world, but look forward to meeting him in God’s eternal kingdom. However, Bob’s reputation as a man of character and integrity precedes him, and I am proud to claim him as a brother Mountaineer.
Unfortunately, when people depart this world they are often quickly forgotten, regardless of their great accomplishments while alive. The Gibson Scholarship Fund will serve two excellent purposes at one time. First, it will honor and memorialize the Gibsons for generations to come. And equally as important, it will provide some needed assistance to help send a young person to our nation’s greatest institution of higher learning, West Virginia University .
You may never realize the dividend of your contribution, but as an alumnus I can personally attest that it will be money well-invested. Please consider making a donation today in memory of our brother Bob, and also to donate regularly in the future.
Most Sincerely,
Randy and Candy Bethke
Millsboro, DE
